THE BOTHY
Construction is set to commence early 2025 on this groundbreaking stone pavilion, seamlessly integrated into the side of a Grade II listed Victorian end-of-terrace home, situated on a prominent site within the Holly Grove Conservation Area.
The pavilion will provide a secluded retreat, featuring a serene bedroom overlooking the mature garden, complete with a sunken bath, sauna, and dressing room. On the street-facing side, a new home office and entrance hall will offer level access to the lower-ground-floor kitchen, enhancing the home's functionality and flow.
This project employs a pioneering approach to sustainable construction. The pavilion will be built entirely from natural stone and timber, without steel or concrete, ensuring a remarkably low carbon footprint. This innovative approach sets a new standard for sustainable residential architecture while maintaining an elegant, modern aesthetic that integrates seamlessly with its historic surroundings.
The pavilion's airtight construction ensures exceptional energy efficiency and provides outstanding sound insulation, creating a tranquil interior. Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery delivers fresh, filtered air, maintaining a calm, comfortable environment without the need to open windows, offering a peaceful escape from the surrounding urban bustle of Peckham.
This project exemplifies how innovative, low-carbon construction can coexist with high design standards, delivering sustainability without compromising aesthetics.
