COMPTON FARM

SOAK has been appointed to upgrade holiday accommodation and develop new buildings for a campsite situated within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Conservation Area, in the curtilage of a listed building. The project balances sensitive environmental stewardship with thoughtful design, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and the use of natural materials.

Our proposals include cabin accommodation constructed from locally sourced timber and cork, offering a low-carbon, breathable, and durable solution that harmonises with the surrounding landscape. The communal shower block will be crafted from rammed chalk, a material that directly expresses the geological character of the site, grounding the architecture in its unique setting.

To eliminate reliance on fossil fuels, the site will be powered by renewable energy sources. Additionally, innovative and sustainable waste management systems will ensure that no sewage enters the nearby watercourses, preserving the delicate ecosystems within the SSSI.
